Pinekit didn’t know what was going on. She was asleep and tucked in by her mum’s side, but then there was all this noise. It was a cat or two and they sounded angry. It was scary and her mum and brothers woke up as well.
When Pinekit looked around, everyone in the nursery was awake and they all looked worried. She looked at her mum and even she looked worried. Her mum normally knew everything so that made Pinekit even more scared. She looked at Coalkit and he tried not to look scared but was shaking. Sharpkit wasn’t doing any better, he was leaning against their mum and looked as scared as she felt.

Jaggedclaw felt a little anxious. Featherfang had called a family meeting in camp, which meant he was waiting next to Stoneflower and Marigoldstrike, his family. Had Marigoldstrike and Stoneflower’s kits been older, Jaggedclaw thought they also would have attended this meeting. But they were still kits and whatever this meeting was about must be serious for Featherfang to have gathered them like this.
